In the last two weeks, school systems in Maryland and across the country have dealt with non-credible threats of violence on social media. To date, Caroline County Public Schools has not received any of these threats. However, we remain in close contact with local law enforcement and the Maryland Center for School Safety regarding threats elsewhere.
Despite no threat occurring in Caroline to date, these incidents still cause stress on our students and families, as well as our staff. Parents and students sharing these threats (taking screenshots, reposting, sharing and texting them) creates anxiety, stress, and panic, and makes it harder to find the origin of the threat. It also disrupts the learning environment and your home.
If you or your child see a social media threat, please do not seek answers on social media, and do not forward or repost it. Report any threatening post or communication to school staff and police, and talk with your child about doing the same.
Please know that the safety and security of our staff and students are our highest priority, which is why we have multiple layers of safety in our schools and district. We truly appreciate our partnership with our families in all we do. If you ever have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your school principal.
A lot of learning went on with the #CarolineFamily this week!

Caroline’s Food Services rolled out the Chesapeake Blue Catfish Sandwich on the lunch menu in all schools today! In addition to the locally sourced catfish, the meal included hydroponic lettuce, zucchini and cantaloupe, all locally grown. According to the cafeteria staff, this Colonel Richardson Middle student said it was the best school lunch she’d ever eaten, and she backed that up with a thumbs up.

Jersey Mike's in Denton has already become one of our terrific business partners! For their opening week, they offered a free sub with every $3 minimum donation, and even dropped off coupons to each school and office. The total donation of $2,600 for our Arts Programs was given to Dr. Simmons this morning. What a way to celebrate Arts in Education Week! Many thanks to our new neighbors at Jersey Mike's for their generosity and community spirit.
