North Caroline High School is a small, rural high school centered between the towns of Ridgely (Pop. 1,614) and Denton (Pop. 4,359) in Caroline County, Maryland.  Our school offers a comprehensive program of study including Advanced Placement courses, the opportunity for dual enrollment with Chesapeake College, and a partnership with the Caroline Career and Technology Center. Student life is centered around academics, sports, and the various clubs and organizations that are carried out with

Dear North Caroline High School Families:

Welcome and thank you for visiting North Caroline High School's website. I am excited and privileged to be the principal of this amazing school. I look forward to working with the members of the community to insure that every student at NCHS graduates college and career ready with the 21st century skills needed to be successful in today's workforce.

OUR MISSION

North Caroline High School will be a place where people will be accepted, respected, and valued. Success, personal achievement, and equal opportunity will always be stressed. Those coming in contact with our school will feel welcomed and encounter a positive and safe atmosphere marked by cleanliness, courtesy, and quality.

PRINCIPLES OF CHARACTER

NCHS has adopted the 11 Character Principles developed by the Maryland Center for Character Education. These are not just abstract ideas to us here at NCHS; they are everyday guidelines that help define who and what we are as a community school.

  1. Promote core ethical values as the basis of good character.

  2. Define “character” comprehensively to include thinking, feeling, and behavior.

  3. Use a comprehensive, intentional, proactive, and effective approach to character development.

  4. Create a caring school community.

  5. Provide students with opportunities for moral actions.

  6. Include a meaningful and challenging academic curriculum that respects all learners, develops
    their character, and helps them to succeed.

  7. Strive to foster student's self-motivation.

  8. Engage the school staff as a learning and moral community who shares responsibility for
    character education and attempts to adhere to the same core values that guide the education of
    students.

  9. Foster shared moral leadership and long-range support of the character education initiative.

  10. Engage families and community members as partners in the character-building effort.

  11. Evaluate the character of the school, the school staff’s functioning as character educators, and
    the extent to which students manifest good character.

Parent Student Teacher Association (PTSA)

North Caroline High School does currently have an active PTSA; however, we would love to have an involved parent group at our school. If you are interested in starting an association, please contact the school and we’ll be happy to help.
