Nelvin Macario Tomas and Cristian Velasquez-Ramirez, seniors at North Caroline High School (NCHS), recently signed a Youth Apprenticeship contract with Keith Neal, owner and president of Nuttle Builders in Denton, Maryland.

Both Nelvin and Cristian completed the Caroline Career and Technology Center Construction Technology Program with teacher Dennis Hall. The apprenticeships will expand the students’ current knowledge and provide on-the-job training in the business world.

To finalize the apprenticeship agreement, a signing ceremony was held at the Nuttle Builders office with both students, their parents, interpreter David Rosario Torres, and Nuttle President Keith Neal, Vice President Ryan Neal, and Office Manager Samantha Geib. Also in attendance were district and school representatives Coordinator of Career Readiness Eric Cook, NCHS Assistant Principal Tommy Jefferson, and NCHS Counselors Ann Ferkler and Jacqueline Holtzman. In addition, Jacqueline Trieu from the Maryland Department of Labor, John Strickland from the Governor’s Workforce Development Board, and Kendell Teague with Caroline Economic Development were there to show their support.

“Both Cristian and Nelvin are hard workers and willing to learn,” Keith Neal said. “They will go a long way in this business with those qualities.” Mr. Cook remarked that it is gratifying to see that foundational skills learned in the Construction CTE program are what students need to be successful carpenters.

Nuttle Builders specializes in design/build residential construction in Maryland and Delaware, emphasizing new homes, additions, remodeling, restoration, and upscale light commercial.
