picture day is Tuesday, November 14th. Contact your child's teacher or the main office if you would like a retake.

FES would like to thank Rotary International for visiting our school today. Our third graders listened to a book read by Mr. Palmer and were reminded about the importance of reading. At the end, they were surprised to learn they would each get to pick out a book from the upcoming book fair courtesy of Rotary. FES loves our community!

Congratulations to our 5th grade Spelling Bee winners who represented FES in the county competition!

Dear Families,
Spam filters are designed to identify emails that attackers or marketers use to send unwanted or dangerous content. They also throw out malware, malicious, and virus-infested emails and protect user security. Unfortunately, spam filtering is an inexact science that at times blocks legitimate messages.
Should you send an email to a staff member and not receive a reply within a reasonable amount of time (no more than 48 hours), please call the office.

Due to dense fog in the area, all schools will be operating on a two hour delay today. Drive safely, #CarolineFamily!

Dear Parents,
We join our Choptank Health partners in thanking you for welcoming our School-Based Health Center providers to this year’s school year, and for the opportunity to keep your students as healthy as they can be.
Our Choptank Health providers serve an integral part in keeping our students ready for learning through the medical, dental, nutrition, and behavioral health services provided, and all on a schedule that helps our parents too!
This season of gratitude is also the season when flu and new COVID-19 variants can interrupt learning and our lives. Our Choptank Health providers are encouraging parents to protect themselves and their family members from the latest variants of Influenza and COVID-19 by receiving the updated COVID-19 vaccine, now available for adults and children six months of age and older.
The latest rise in cases of COVID-19, who's more at risk, what's different about the latest variants, the cost and types of vaccines now available, and how you can find a vaccine near you are all discussed in this episode of Ask a Provider, with Avalon Foundation host Jess Bellis interviewing Choptank Health Sr. Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer Megan Wojtko, DNP, MBA, FNP-BC.
You can enroll your child in School-Based Health at any time throughout the year, with enrollment forms, locations, contact information, and more at www.choptankhealth.org/schoolbased.

Join us for Math Night at FES on November 9th from 6-7.

Healthy vision and hearing is important for your child’s success in school. State law requires school systems to have students’ hearing and vision screened when they enter the school system for the first time and in the first grade. Hearing and vision screenings are scheduled to begin on 10/12/23.
Students who should not be included in the screenings include:
Those whose parents/guardians object in writing to the screenings on the grounds that it conflicts with the tenets and practice of a recognized church or religious denomination of which they are a member;
Those with known hearing loss, including but not limited to, students with cochlear implants or hearing aids; and
Those who present evidence of testing within the last year.
If your child falls into any of these categories or if you have any questions, please reach out to the school nurse directly at 410-479-2874 or via email at tiley.kali@ccpsstaff.org.
