At the January Board of Education meeting, the Board recognized Denton Elementary School principal Dr. Sarah Crebs-Oberdorf for recently completing a doctoral degree in Contemporary Literacy Studies from Salisbury University. Her dissertation was entitled An Inquiry Into a Collaborative Teacher Study Group: How do Elementary Teachers of Reading talk about the Intersection Between Race and Reading Instruction and Assessment?
At the meeting, Dr. Simmons shared that he had the honor of attending Dr. Crebs-Oberdorf’s defense of her dissertation at Salisbury University. “I was thrilled to be there to support you,” he said, adding that it was the culmination of years of hard work that paid off in an outstanding dissertation.
Dr. Crebs-Oberdorf was named principal of Denton Elementary School in June of 2022. She began her career teaching Special Education in Caroline and other districts, and had also served as assistant principal at Ridgely Elementary School.
