The second cohort of employees completed the Caroline County Public Schools Aspiring Leaders Program, offered from throughout the fall of this year.
The graduate level course, led by Director of Instruction Lindsey McCormick and former administrator Dr. James Orr, was designed to address the philosophical, theoretical and practical issues faced by public school leaders in an ever-changing world. The primary goal of the course was to provide training and support for teachers considering public school leadership, and to build leadership capacity for the district in future years.
The class was 12 sessions in length and welcomed a wide variety of guest speakers that included retired specialists, current supervisors and directors, and specialists from the Maryland State Department of Education. Topics dealt with all facets of administration such as budget and finance, effective communication, school improvement, Human Resources, curriculum and instruction, equity vs. equality, and crisis management.
