At the December board of education meeting, Chrissy Bartz and Stefanie Johnson were sworn in as members by Caroline County Clerk of the Court Terry Lord. At the same meeting, the Board unanimously elected Michele Wayman president and re-elected Mark Jones vice president.
Ms. Bartz has been a member of the Board since July of this year, filling a vacancy left by a former member’s resignation. Having been elected from District 1 in November, she now begins a full four year term. Ms. Bartz is the Director of Community Based Programs for Choptank Community Health. Currently she is the provider at the Greensboro Elementary School Wellness Center, while also supporting patient care in Choptank’s family practice, pediatric and migrant practices. Ms. Bartz holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and a Master’s degree in Medical Science. She is also a Certified Physician Assistant and EMT-B, and CPR and AED Instructor. Ms. Bartz is a lifelong resident of Caroline County and graduate of North Caroline High School. She and her husband JT live in Henderson with their daughter Mady who attends North Caroline High School.
Ms. Johnson was elected from District 2 in November. She is the Executive Director of His Hope Ministries homeless shelter in Denton. Ms. Johnson began work there as a volunteer in 2018, and subsequently hired as case manager and community outreach coordinator. She also serves as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and is a board member for the Caroline County Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Johnson was born and raised in Williamsburg, Virginia, and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and Choreography and a minor in General Business. She resides in Denton with her husband Keith and daughters Mackenzie and Ryleigh who both attend Caroline County Public Schools.
