Jill Hignutt has been named Chief Financial Officer for Caroline County Public Schools (CCPS) effective July 1, 2024. Her appointment was approved by the Caroline County Board of Education at their June work session.

Ms. Hignutt is currently the accounting manager for CCPS. She joined the Caroline family in 2017 as an account/internal auditor, and became the accounting manager in 2022.

Following graduation from North Caroline High School, Ms. Hignutt attended the Perdue School of Business at Salisbury University and majored in Accounting and Information Systems. She graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree and in 2018 became a Certified Public Accountant.

“I am thrilled to recommend Ms. Hignutt to the Board as our next Chief Financial Officer,” Superintendent Derek Simmons said. “She attended Caroline County Public Schools, was hired in the accounting department straight out of college, and has been an invaluable asset from the beginning.” He noted that Ms. Hignutt has regularly taken advantage of professional development opportunities provided by the Maryland Association of Business Officials, excels in the areas of finance and employee relations, and enjoys the enthusiastic support of her colleagues. “Given her education and experience, Ms. Hignutt was a natural choice to lead the Finance Department in the coming years.”
