Chrissy Bartz has been chosen to fill a vacancy on the Caroline County Board of Education, and will be sworn in at the June 18 work session. The board conducted interviews on June 4, and Ms. Bartz was selected from a group of highly qualified individuals.
Ms. Bartz is the Director of Community Based Programs for Choptank Community Health. Currently she is the provider at the Greensboro Elementary School Wellness Center, while also supporting patient care in Choptank’s family practice, pediatric and migrant practices. Ms. Bartz holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and a Master’s degree in Medical Science. She is also a Certified Physician Assistant and EMT-B, and CPR and AED Instructor.
In her interview with the board, Ms. Bartz shared that she is applying for the seat in order to give back to the community and because her experience would bring a unique perspective to the work. She views the school system as the hub of the community, and finds communication to be key in remaining accessible to stakeholders. “You (CCPS) are doing amazing things, and I would be excited to be a part of that,” Ms. Bartz said.
Ms. Bartz is a lifelong resident of Caroline County and graduate of North Caroline High School. She and her husband JT live in Henderson with their daughter Mady, a rising junior at North Caroline High School.
The vacancy on the board was created by the resignation of member Donna DiGiacomo who was elected from District 1. Pursuant to the Education Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland, the Board of Education is required to select a qualified individual to fill the vacancy for the remainder of the term of the vacating member and until a successor is elected and qualifies. The individual selected must be a resident of the same district as that of the vacating member.
